The beginning of a Wikipedia article, about Garry De Young.
I knew Garry and his family for many years, and would like to write a Wikipedia article about him. At least, I found his obituary, on the Internet.

The first, and only, time that I ever heard a song named "Oleana," (about Ole Bull's "New Norway" colony), was in November, 1965, when I was driving from St. Cloud, Minnesota to Cass Lake. I heard it over the car radio. I was on my way to visit Garry De Young, who was trying to start a commune there, at Cass Lake.

Garry is a relatively unknown person, whose most recognizable claim to fame is an accidental comedy wrestling match that he had, with U.S. Senator John Culver, on a stage in the Education Center, here at the University of Northern Iowa, in late October, 1980. Culver was Ted Kennedy's roommate at Harvard, and is the father of Chet Culver, the present Governor of Iowa.

De Young died in 2002, near his 79th birthday. Culver, still alive, is now 77.
